Cicero came into the Sports Zone Arena ready to play in Saturday Night’s late game. They earned themselves a well-deserved win at the expense of the Camillus Wildcats, beating them by ten runs.

Starting pitcher on this night was Connor Pearce, who struck out 4 and gave up no runs. Lucas Thelen overcame some early struggles and put in a solid performance, giving up one run. Alex Smith finished strong after walking 3 batters and gave Cicero the win with a flurry of solo put-outs.

An encouraging offensive takeaway of the night was the aggressive base running by Cicero, who took advantage of ample walks by stealing bases at will.

The longest hit of the night came off the bat of Michael Mooney, who turned in a double.

Additional hits came from Daniel Capp, Lucas Thelen, Alex Smith and Avery Pankow, who stepped in for an absent Jayden Wilmot.

Cicero took advantage of fielding errors and costly throwing decisions by the Wildcats, turning them into points. The end result was an 11-1 victory in Cicero’s favor.

Defensive high points included multiple tags at 3rd base by Connor Pearce thanks to solid throws by Michael Mooney and Daniel Capp.

Nicholas Capece made two nice tags at 2nd base, catching stealing runners off the arm of catcher Daniel Capp.

Alex Smith made solid plays at pitcher, getting all three outs in the last inning.

In addition to a good outing on the mound, Lucas Thelen made some great scoops and catches at first base.

A solo put out by Michael Mooney, along with some on-point throw-downs to 2nd and 3rd base, plus a team-motivating double, helped him earn the first MVP selection of this season.

Cicero faces an experienced Jr. Chiefs team next week at 7pm in the Sports Center Arena.
