Baseball fans made their way to Pine Grove Arena on Saturday afternoon, braving Arctic cold to watch the Rattlers take on Sports Zone Academy – and they were treated to a barn-burner of a game.

On this day, the Rattlers racked up a season-high 36 hits and 16 runs, which they  needed to rally and then hold a lead to the end.

Highlight plays on the day:

Adrian Muller made a great grab and toss from short stop to Joey Barbato at second base for a very important out in a tight game

Hunter Woods (CF) continued to show his skills in the outfield as he launched a rocket from deep right to Dean Capece (2B) for a big-time out that prevented a double.

Dean Capece was a beast on defense for the second game in row. His biggest impact came in the final innings as he made several catches and head’s-up plays from second base to end innings and help hold a slim lead for the Rattlers. A jumping catch of a line drive was exciting, but reeling in another one and getting the ball to first base for the double play was HUGE enough to secure a win.

Hits on the day for the  Rattlers Rattlers: Hunter Woods (5), Adrian Muller (4), Dean Capece (4), Liam Hough (4), Eli Greer (4), TJ Vulcano (3), Ryan Hooser (3), Sullivan Woods (3), Seth McIlroy (3) and Joe Barbato (3).

Most Valuable Player in this game was Dean Capece, whose outstanding performance on defense held the lead and secured the win for the team. He also went 4/5 at the plate, scoring and driving in multiple runs.
